American Olympian and NCAA D1 All-American Wins 4 National Titles at Ohio State
Armstrong Forgoes Final 2 Years of NCAA Eligibility to Turn Professional
One of the United States' newest Olympians from last week's trials was Hunter Armstrong, the 20-year-old Ohio native who swims for Ohio State. Armstrong graduated from Dover High School in 2019 and went to West Virginia, where his older brother, Jake Armstrong, a two-time Big 12 Champion and NCAA All-American, was on the team.
Hunter then transferred to Ohio State, where he has solidified himself as one of the NCAA's top swimmers. Armstrong has won four NCAA titles in his two years with the Buckeyes, including the 500 free, 1650 free, and two titles as a member of Ohio State's 800 free relay team.
Armstrong is also a multiple-time All-American and Big Ten Champion. He has represented the United States at the international level, competing at the 2019 World University Games.
Armstrong's decision to turn pro comes after a successful 2021 NCAA season. He was named a first-team All-American in the 200 free, 500 free, and 1650 free and helped Ohio State finish third at the NCAA Championships.
Armstrong is a rising star in the swimming world, and his decision to turn pro is a significant step in his career. He has the potential to be one of the best swimmers in the world, and he will undoubtedly make a splash at the professional level.
